How Does uShip Payments and Booking Deposits Work for Customers
uShip offers two different ways to pay - uShip Payments and Booking Deposits. The options available depend on the type of shipment you book.
If you have to pay the total cost of your shipment + sale price, then you are using uShip Payments. If you have to pay a portion of the sale price + cost of your shipment, then you are using Booking Deposits.
uShip Payments (UK Only)
This option is available, and often required, for shipments £20,000 or less.
uShip Payments conveniently allows you to pay for your purchase in full upon booking the shipment, through our secure payments processor. Keep in mind that further action is required upon delivery in order for your payment to be released to your seller. Once your shipment is delivered, the Protection Plan will become available four your purchase, usually with a 14 days money back guarantee. You must contact the seller in order to activate it, by confirming the reception of the shipment. You can always cancel the sale and shipment if the product arrived damaged or different from described on the listing (e.g. the condition isn't accurate). If you are pleased with the product condition, you may choose to Release Payment. This has to be done before the money back guarantee expires, or will be done automatically once is over.
Once you choose to Release Payment to the seller, we'll prompt you to indicate that the shipment has been inspected and that you understand the payment release cannot be reversed. This is to protect you against theft or fraud.
Once you've released your Payment, your transaction is complete. There is no further action required.
If you choose to cancel the shipment and your purchase, do not ask for a Payment Release. You will have to open a case and uShip Payments will return the full paid price to your bank account in up to 3 days, once your case has been reviewed.
Booking Deposit
When paying with Booking Deposits, you'll pay your deposit through PayPal, and the remaining balance directly to your seller according to the terms agreed upon at booking. This option is available in select categories and is the only payment option for shipments above £20,000.
Deposit - Total amount paid through uShip Payments at checkout in order to book your shipment. It essentially includes everything NOT going directly to the seller.
Deposit = Service Provider Fees (portion of Bid Amount) + Service Charge + uShip Protection Plan (if purchased)
Total Amount Due - The amount you'll pay directly to the seller. We typically recommend waiting until delivery to make this payment, however terms may vary depending on the agreement with the seller. Please review the payment terms of your purchase prior to payment.
Total Amount Due = Total Cost of Shipping - Deposit (paid at checkout)
